Lakeshore The Meadows to Host Free Atrial Fibrillation Seminar
Seminar to Address Latest Options for Correcting Atrial Fibrillation, a Heart Rhythm Disorder Affecting Millions

Feb. 24, 2010 - On Tuesday, March 9, Lakeshore The Meadows, in partnership with Centennial Heart Center, will host a seminar about the most effective ways to treat and correct Atrial Fibrillation (A Fib), a common heart rhythm disorder affecting millions.

The seminar will be held at 6 p.m. at Lakeshore The Meadows, located at 8044 Coley Davis Rd. in Bellevue, and will feature cardiothoracic surgeon Robert Binford, M.D., an expert in minimally invasive approaches to the treatment of A Fib. The seminar is free and open to the public. To register, call TriStar MedLine at 615-342-1919.

Heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias) are very common and impact the electrical system, or “wiring,” of the heart muscle. Millions of people will experience an abnormal heart rhythm during their lives.

A Fib is a type of irregular heartbeat affecting about 2.2 million people in the United States. Symptoms of A Fib include shortness of breath and lightheadedness. If left untreated, A Fib can lead to congestive heart failure or stroke.

Centennial Heart Center, located at 2300 Patterson St. in Nashville, features the latest treatment advances for correcting A Fib and is at the forefront of the advancement of treatment for other heart rhythm disorders. Centennial Heart Center offers full-service cardiovascular care—from invasive procedures such as coronary artery stenting, peripheral vascular intervention, pacemaker placement and ablation of arrhythmias—to the latest in non-invasive cardiology, such as echocardiograms, stress tests, CT angiography, and ambulatory heart rhythm monitoring.
